Ashish hospital has been a landmark multi speciality hospital for half a century serving patients from Jabalpur and 20+ neighboring districts.

Built and nurtured brick by brick by Dr. MP Gupta, Mrs Usha Gupta, Dr Shiv Kant Gupta, and the Gupta family, we stand tall in pride serving patients with utmost care providing an array of services under one roof.

Our Story

After completing his masters in General Surgery from Nagpur Medical College, Dr MP Gupta shifted to Jabalpur on 28th November 1966 with his wife, Late Mrs Usha Gupta. He joined as a lecturer in Jabalpur medical college and started his teaching career.

With a burning desire to utilize his knowledge to serve and heal as many people as possible, he started his independent practice as well.

Starting his practice from a tiny living room, at his rented home, in Napier town, the couple worked day and night to make a good living. While Dr MP Gupta interacted with and examined patients, his wife supported him with everything else, from sterilizing instruments to stitching masks and gowns.

They realized there is a lack of proper medical care in the private sector in Jabalpur and surrounding districts, so in 1973 they decided to expand into a 8 bed nursing home, 1 OT and 4+ consulting chambers.

The nursing home became one of the first in the region.

By the 1980s, it expanded to a 40-bed facility with modern medical facilities which focused on General and Pediatric Surgery, Obstetrics and Gynaecology, and Medical Management with a specialized Burn Room. The nursing home had the facility of modern OTs, Labour room, private and general wards and a ramp for comfortable movement of patients and staff.

In the 2000s Dr. MP Gupta’s son, Late Dr Shivkant Gupta, completed his specialization in General Surgery, and gained a vast experience of working in multiple established hospitals across India. He joined forces at Ashish Nursing Home and set forward to build the business further apart from practicing as a surgeon.

He envisioned a bigger impact and transformed the venture into a multi-specialty hospital in line with the modern medical practices and infrastructure.

In 2007 the new building of Ashish Hospital, fully converted into a multi speciality facility with added departments, opened its doors, all expanded to a 130-bed hospital with 24x7 Emergency, CathLab, Cardiac OT, modern equipped OTs, Dialysis, Pathology, CSSD and more.

In 2019, Ashish Hospital got recognition of NABH Accreditation.

Today, Ashish Hospital serves millions of patients from 22 districts surrounding Jabalpur.

The central location of the hospital in Jabalpur City has allowed us to achieve our objective of making healthcare accessible for all and healing people from all backgrounds.

In 2022, the management was taken over by Dr MP Gupta and his 3 daughters Mrs. Preeti Gupta, Dr. Ritu Kesari and Mrs. Priya Gupta. Their respective spouses also work actively as advisors to the hospital.
